SHOES FOR NICARAGUA - PITTSBURGH ROTARY PROJECT

Educating children is one of the more reliable ways of transitioning a society from poverty to sustainability. The goal of Rotary International is peace through the education of poverty stricken societies. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere (behind Hatti) and public education is available only under limited conditions.

Did you know that a single pair of shoes is a contributing factor to many uneducated Nicaraguan children? For many American families, shoes are often discarded when the child grows out of them. For most Nicaraguan children, the need for shoes is a reality. It is quite common for the parents of Nicaraguan children to send one child to school--with the only pair of shoes, only to have that child return home to teach the other "shoeless" children.

My name is Karl Ohrman and I support the efforts of the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh. Below I have attached downloadable material to help you understand the importance of this cause. Simply download or print this information or click the share button. If you or your organization desires to get involved beyond this blog, the information is clearly printed.

Thanks, Karl
